Using data to cater to all my students
The mid-year assessments will give you a significant amount of data on your students' growth and learning. You will learn how to read and analyze this data, which will nuance your understanding of where each of your students is and what you will need to prioritize, shift and continue to really take outcomes to the next level. With this enhanced understanding of where your students are and what they may need, you will also be exposed to new teaching methods that you will learn and contextualize to suit the diverse needs of groups of students in your classroom.

End of Year Summit and LDJC
And year 1 is a wrap! The End of Year Summit is a space that will help you consolidate your experiences and learnings from the past year, and leave you with sparks and support towards preparation for next year. It is also space for you to zoom out and deepen your understanding of the system we work in, whilst making connections to your own journey and classroom. Finally, this is a space where you come together with all the people you started your journey at Institute with, and close out the year learning from and connecting with each other. You also have a Leadership Development Journey Conversation with your Manager where you celebrate your outcomes and growth as a teacher and leader, explore how you can strengthen your classroom practices and areas of development, and begin to identify the role you would like to play post the Fellowship.

Strengthening my teaching practices
A continuous priority in the Fellowship is for us to keep deepening our expertise as teachers, to ensure we are serving our students in the most effective way possible. In the second half of your first year, there are a number of new and exciting teaching practices that you will be introduced to - and consistently taking it back to your lesson plans and classroom is the best part! You will learn how to create assessments and strengthen the guided practice time your students engage in. You will also learn how to make connections between aspects of what you have learned so far by learning how to plan for a unit of learning. Each of these will accelerate your growth as a teacher and in turn, the growth of your students in the classroom.

Beginning to explore my Personal Theory of Change
At Teach For India, we commit to constantly developing as teachers and leaders whilst supporting our students to do so. A crucial process in your Fellowship journey is exploring and creating your 'Personal Theory of Change' - A process that starts with looking within and strengthening your understanding of your values and strengths and moves into deepening your understanding of the system we work within and identifying the puzzle piece, or the problem that you want to work towards solving. What is especially enriching about this process is constantly making connections to your classroom; whether it be observing and leveraging your strengths to maximise outcomes, or enhancing your understanding of a part of the system by exploring how it plays out in your classroom or community.

Creating a Collective, Contextual Vision
Now that you have spent 8 months in your classrooms with your students and your 1st year comes to an end, it is time to begin preparation for the next year. One of the most crucial pieces of preparation for Year 2 is creating your 'Collective, Contextual Vision' for your classroom and community for Year 2. This is where you engage in heavy research towards gaining clarity on the needs and the vision each of the stakeholders in your context have for your students, along with enhancing your vision of excellence by exploring what enablers have looked like for student success across the globe and contexts. You then put all of this research and information together to create your collective, contextual vision...or where you aim to see your classroom at the end of Year 2. In many ways, this becomes your 'North Star' through the next year - where every unit, structure and lesson you plan aligns back to your vision...so remember to give it enough research, thought and time!

Initiating my Be the Change Project
Through your experience in the Fellowship so far, you may have identified a few problems in your classroom, school and/ or community that impact your students and their learning. The 'BTCP' is a platform where you are enabled to narrow down on a problem a design a solution that brings alive your vision for your classroom, school and/ or community. You will make project plans, create and deliver pitches, establish a system for monitoring and evaluation and ensure that all stakeholders are involved and meaningfully engaged. As the first step of this Project, you are introduced to a design thinking process that will enhance your research skills. This will not only help you identify a problem that is extremely relevant and aligned to your classroom vision, but push you to explore the root causes and factors of this problem before even beginning to explore solutions.

EOY Assessments
As the year comes to an end, an extremely exciting and important milestone that takes place is the End of Year Assessments for students. This is the place where all of their learnings from the year is showcased. This helps us, as teachers, identify and celebrate the growth that our students have made through the year as well as what they need to work on towards improvement. This data plays a crucial role in your design and preparation for Year 2 of your Fellowship as you identify what to prioritise, shift and continue to keep strengthening student outcomes.
